Ecotourism and Sustainable Tourism Conference 2013

ESTC Comes to Kenya

The 7th annual Ecotourism¬† and Sustainable Tourism Conference will be held in Nairobi Kenya from 24th to 27th September 2013 at The Safari Park Hotel. Organized by The International Ecotourism Society (TIES), the ESTC seeks to add weight to the recent UN resolution, “Promotion of ecotourism for poverty eradication & environment protection.” which recognizes the positive impact ecotourism has on community development efforts.

The conference will bring together professionals from all over the world with the conference program set to feature ideas, opportunities and solutions for the tourism industry to assist in natural areas conservation, poverty alleviation, women empowerment, enhancing education, and improving the health and well-being of local communities.

Key Themes for ESTC13 include;

  • Conservation & Communities
  • Plans, Policies, and Partnerships for Destinations
  • Tools, Solutions, and Strategies for Businesses
  • Tourism and the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs)

The Keynote presenter will be Costas Christ, a world renowned editor at Large National Geographic Traveler.

Going by multitudes of participants in the previous ESTC’s this years is set to be no different. The conference will be a great avenue for industry stakeholders from all over the world to engage in meaningful interactions for the betterment of the world. For some it will be a chance to widen their knowledge bases while for others the beginning of lifetime friendships.
